How dark should i put black eyeliner under my eyes?

Like some people tell me that it looks bad when it is really dark...is that true? does it like make you look mean?How dark should i put black eyeliner under my eyes?
A lot depends on your skin tones and hair colour. If you have darker hair, then thicker eyeliner can make you look goth/mean etc. (but if this is what you are going for, then thats fine!) i would suggest sharpening your eyeliner and then applying to give a thin defining line rather than producing excessive amounts. However, the line under your eye can make the eye look smaller, so i would suggest flicking the eyeliner line out at the end of the eye. This makes the eye look bigger - and also prettier, so as not to look so mean.

If people tell you that it looks bad it probably douse. Just don't put it on so thick.
i don't line under my eyes cause it closes them up, but some people look fine in it. i would start out with a brown liner and see how that looks. black can look too harsh at times
if you're pale skin, then put it on very light ....if ur darker skin then u can go ahead and pout it dark cuz its not that noticable on darker skin
Don't listen to anybody about not putting it under your eyes. If you like it. Do it. I wear liquid liner. I put a thin line on my top lashes. And a thin line really really close to my bottom lash on that inside ridge. Then I put my mascara on farely thick on my top lash and just a swoop on my bottom. It makes my eyes POP and looks super sexy. I always get compliments from other woman about my eye makeup. Good luck and just play with it until you find something that works.
I don't think it makes a person look mean. It looks very sultry and attractive. It gives your eyes the smoky look. Just don't over-do it or it will make you look like a clown or a punk.





Apply a thin line in the inside of your lower eyelid. I do it all the time. It makes you eye colour stand out and it makes you eyes look bigger. It's very dramatic.





The trick is when you go dark on the eyes, use a light, skin coloured lipstick to balance it out. If you go dark on the lip colour, use light colours on the eyes. Dark eyes and dark lips is too much and overdone. You can still look good with the natural look by going light eyes and lips, however. I guarantee it will look good.

idk..my eyes are big and brown, so wen i put it on heavy i look like i hav black eyes...CREEPY so i just put one light layer of it on. u caould also use BROWN eyeliner too. looks good w/ hazel and green eyes
Just put it on, but not that heavy. Don't use liquid, it depends on your skin color, black looks good only if you put it on right :)
You should really never encircle your eye with eyeliner, (corner to corner bottom %26amp; top.) Makeup artist will apply eyeliner to the outer upper and bottom lash line of the eye, then smudge. most eye liner pencils have the smudge tip on them. Start even with your pupil and go out. This makes your eyes look larger and less severe. Don't apply any liner in the inside corner, just smudge. Black eye liner does look a little Gothic (if thats what your going for, then stick with it). Experiment with gray, or brown. you might be suprised.
it depends on how good it looks under your eyes. try to take pictures with eyeliner and without eyeliner, compare it and you can decide. if you are in mood to put black eyeliner and does not bothers your, its OK but if you think it change your image the way people sees you as mean, dont put anymore.
well i used to put eyeliner and i thought it looked good but then i saw the tyra show. If you don't now she's a model and they gave great tips. they said to put white eyeliner instead of black but not that much. Try it and you will see the difference. Also as a tip the mascara does all the work not the eyeliner.
it can make your eyes appear smaller...depending on your eye shape i suppose it can make you look meaner

it depends on the shape of your eyes. it should not be really dark as sometimes it tends not to suit the person.
Yeah, putting it too dark makes you look goth. Just put some, but not too much. Just a faint line.





I usually put eyeliner on the top, right on the eyelid.





Put on some eyeshadow too
Hey try using white eyeliner on the bottom....it really looks amazing on any eyes...all my friends are wearing it like that now....also bronze really make eyes sparkle too...bronze is in this season too
