How do you sharpen eyeliner pencils?

I tried using a regular pencil sharpener (handheld), but now the wood around the tip is rough and it feels rough on my eye.How do you sharpen eyeliner pencils?
Buy a pencil sharpener made for make up. I have Urban Decay's Grindhouse and it is amazing! It eats away the wood/ plastic part instead of the inside.

you should never use a regular sharpener it may infect ur eyes the best thing to do is get an eyeliner sharpener or what i would prefer would be an pen eyeliner it is smoother and u don't have to sharpen it
You can get really good sharpeners that are meant for eyeliner. You can get them cheap, but my mom uses pencil sharpeners and the rough part never happened.

I had a children's ';makeup'; kit and the eyeliner sharpener that came with it works like a charm! it's purple and sparkly too!

Your supposed to sharpen it so that the wood doesn't touch your eye; Because it's not supposed to.

use a eyeliner sharpener and try and get one from the brand of eyeliner you got!
